A letter from the founder
My cat is gone. This is where the love went.
My cat passed away last year.
For years he slept on my desk while I worked - half on the notebook, half on the keyboard, entirely in the way. I complained about it the whole time. I would give anything to be interrupted again.
Nobody tells you that grief lives in the small things. The corner of the desk that stays empty. The second bowl you still reach for. The moment you lift your hand to move him off the keyboard, and find only air.
I'm not a spiritual person. I never believed he was coming back. But missing him had nowhere to go - and love with nowhere to go is the heaviest thing I've ever carried.
So I built him a place. From three old photos, a small grey cat that lives where he always lived: on my desk, beside my work. He greets me at login. He sleeps through my meetings. He chases my cursor the way he used to chase my pen.
He is not my cat. He isn't trying to be. But when he curls up in the corner of my screen, something in my chest unclenches - the love lands somewhere, instead of just aching.
That's KiddyPet. It isn't about replacing anyone - nothing could. It's about giving the warmth somewhere to go: for people who've lost a cat, for people who can't have one, for anyone whose screen has been quiet too long.
If that's you, I hope it helps the way it helped me.
